Jade - Stone of Heaven

Jade, with its discreet  lustre, comes in many fine nuances of green,  yellow, orange and in delicate violet tones. It’s been been known for over 7000 years. In prehistoric times, it was used for it’s toughness in weaponry and tools. As early as 3000 BC, Jade was known in China as “yu”, the 'royal gem'. In the long history of the Chinese empire, jade was valued like that of gold and diamonds in the West. Jade was used not only for the finest objects and cult figures, but also in grave furnishings for high-ranking members of the imperial family. Today, Jade is regarded as a symbol of the good, the beautiful and the precious. It embodies the Confucian virtues of wisdom, justice, compassion, modesty and courage. And it also symbolizes the female-erotic.

I love working with Jade. The subtle color belies the weight and substance of the material. Jade looks light and airy, yet it is tough and durable. It’s the ideal stone for a piece which will receive a lot of wear. My clients always say that their jade “feels good” on their skin, that they feel very feminine when they wear one of the Jade designs. As I personally feel the Feminine is one of the archetypes that walks with us every day, wearing Jade just helps bring that power into focus in your life.
